Children Available:
China exceeds other countries in the number of adoptions placements here in the United States. There is the availability of infants as well as toddlers and pre-school children. The vast majority of children that are available are girls though boys may be available occasionally. On rare occasions twins are also available for adoption.
Parent Requirements:
Parents must be between 30 to 50 years of age for infant adoption, with mothers no more than 45 years of age. Persons may be older if there is an interest in an older child or one who has special needs. Single men must be at least 40 years of age in order to adopt a female child. However, it is extremely difficult for single persons to adopt through the China adoption program based on the country’s own requirements. China gives more of a priority to married couple adoptions rather those of single persons. One parent need only be a USA citizen.
Re ferral and Travel Time:
It will take approximately two months to complete the home study. This is provided that all necessary documentation are completed and at the Life Source Center offices. It will then take approximately six to seven months following the submission of the completed dossier, including the home study, for the referral of a child to take place.
Travel occurs six to eight weeks after acceptance of the referral is sent to China. One parent is required to travel. The trip covers approximately a two week period. Families are escorted throughout the process.
Costs:
The International Program Administrative fee and the China Foreign fee are based of those set by the organization contracting with the given orphanage and the orphanage fee itself. This does not include the adoption home study fee, travel, food and lodging, CIS-1-600A application and assorted required certified documents.
